Information We Collect
Device Identifier
The app generates a random anonymous device ID (UUID) stored securely on your device. This ID is used to link your subscription and for anonymous analytics. It does not identify you personally.
Anonymous Analytics
We use anonymous analytics to understand how the app is used and to improve it. The data collected includes:
- App version and platform (iOS/Android)
- Screens viewed and features used
- Subscription status
- Language preference
This data is anonymous and cannot be used to identify you personally.
Data We Do Not Collect
We do not collect:
- Personal identifiers (name, email, phone number)
- Location data from your device
- Financial information or transaction history
- Content of your gold collection details
- Advertising identifiers
How We Use Information
The limited data we collect is used for:
- Improving app performance and user experience
- Identifying and fixing crashes and bugs
- Understanding which features are most valuable
- Managing your subscription status
Third-Party Services
PostHog (Analytics)
We use PostHog for anonymous product analytics to understand how the app is used. PostHog receives anonymous usage events tied to your device ID. No personal information is shared.
Sentry (Crash Reporting)
We use Sentry for crash reporting to identify and fix bugs. When a crash occurs, Sentry receives crash reports, stack traces, and device information. No personal data is included.
RevenueCat (Subscriptions)
Subscription purchases are managed through RevenueCat, which handles payment processing via Apple's App Store and Google Play. We do not receive or store any payment information.
Convex (Backend)
We use Convex as our backend service for delivering real-time gold prices, managing price alerts, and device registration for push notifications.
No Advertising
Gold Calculator does not include any advertising SDKs. We do not show ads and do not share any data with advertising networks.
Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored in two locations:
On Your Device
- Gold collection items and purchase history in a local SQLite database
- Recent calculations, sell offers, and price cache
- App preferences and settings
- Device ID stored securely in the encrypted keychain
On Our Servers
- Current and historical gold prices
- Your price alert configurations
- Push notification tokens for delivery
- Anonymous collection summaries for alerts
Device data is protected by your device's built-in security. Server data is minimal and does not contain personal information.
Data Retention
Device data is under your full control:
- Delete individual collection items within the app
- Delete the app to remove all local data
- Server-side data (alerts, push tokens) is automatically cleaned when inactive
Device Permissions
The app may request the following permissions:
- Push Notifications — for price alerts and collection value change notifications
- Network Access — for fetching live gold prices and syncing data
- Face ID (iOS) — for secure keychain access to store the device ID
Children's Privacy
Gold Calculator is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.
International Users
Gold Calculator stores most data locally on your device. Minimal anonymous data may be processed by our third-party service providers, which may operate in different jurisdictions.
